We developed the "sweatshirt" that we wear the most from scratch with JERZEES.
The hoodie from RUSSELL ATHLETIC, which was founded in Alexander City, Alabama, USA, in 1902, has been reproduced with a modern interpretation.
Its features include an asymmetrical design for the hood cords, with some appearing on the outside and some on the inside, and a structure that resists losing its shape even after repeated wear.
Historically, cords made for athletic use are thick like shoelaces and have a strong presence. Therefore, while the body has a modern balance, we intentionally used flat cords for the neck detail to retain a classical feel.
Another concern with hoodies is the volume of the hood. Personally, I don't like it when the hood lies flat when worn; I prefer volume, so I paid close attention to that aspect.
The fabric uses open-end yarn, which has been widely used in the United States. Since the yarn contains air, it creates a voluminous texture and a rough, crisp feel, resulting in a superb finish with excellent texture, color, and touch.
While boasting a hefty 13.2 oz weight and robust shape retention, the fabric will conform to your body with repeated wear and washing, changing its comfort and developing a unique "flavor".
As it's washed, it develops a unique character. It has higher moisture absorption than regular sweatshirts and, despite being 100% cotton, it dries quickly. Even in seasons when drying clothes is difficult, it dries well indoors, so you can wear it frequently.
Also, since I personally prefer to wear it consistently through autumn, winter, and spring, I requested a brushed back for the lining. The brushed back is designed to absorb a large amount of sweat, a historical requirement for such athletic wear, which is another important point based on historical context.
Size S is based on a 155cm female body type, and is a balanced fit for men up to 160cm.
Size M was created for my 168cm body type to achieve an ideal balance when worn alone.
Size L has ample body width and sleeve length for those 175cm and taller to wear comfortably.
The cords (drawstrings) historically used for athletic wear were made in original colors and THIRD PLACE specifications.Customers who purchase a sweatshirt will receive it tied with a THIRD PLACE cord.
