Tonight, I'd like to introduce some pieces from TOZAOU.

TOZAOU is a brand that has been with us since the opening of THIRD PLACE.

Happily, its fan base has been gradually growing, and more people are looking forward to every new season.

However, for those who aren't familiar with it yet, I'd like to start with a brief introduction to the brand.

Based in Osaka, the brand is helmed by designer Mr. Urisato, who comes from a background of gentleman's tailoring.

Because he has spent time crafting suits, jackets, and coats to fit each individual customer, TOZAOU's clothing has a very beautiful fit and natural feel on the body.

This is evident in the words found at the bottom of the brand's website:

”Designed for everyone”

"Our products are made for anyone that will wear."

These words convey the core philosophy of TOZAOU and their confidence in the clothing itself.

That is the foundation of the brand.

Building on these tailoring techniques and philosophies, the designer incorporates observations and experiences from daily life—work, sleep, meals, architecture, and more—into the clothing.

TOZAOU offers a unique perspective you won't find elsewhere, with details that make daily life easier and touches that might even make you smile.

Wake up → Brush teeth → Prepare breakfast → Laundry → Get ready for work → Breakfast → Commute → Break → Leave work → Dinner → Sleep

When you see someone who is always there for a smoke break at the same time on your usual commute, but they're not there today.

When you notice the details of the clothes an older man is wearing during his lunch break.

A sudden sense of something being out of place in scenes or outfits you wouldn't usually think twice about.

Daily routines, for better or worse, pass by in a blur like conveyor-belt work. Because our bodies are so accustomed to them, we tend to let these scenes we see every day just wash over us.

TOZAOU picks up on those small moments of incongruity or awareness within such ordinary daily life and incorporates them into their designs.

It’s a brand that reminds us of the reality and the joy of fashion all over again.

To get to know TOZAOU, I’d like you to start by looking at these pants.

A beautiful semi-wide straight silhouette. Truly exquisite pants that will make you want to buy them in another color.

The reason lies in the cutting process, which is slightly different from the norm.

The pattern was rotated 90 degrees during cutting so that the tension runs vertically, a design calculated to add vertical tension to the drape, resulting in a silhouette with three-dimensional correction.

It’s hard to tell at a glance, but I feel that Mr. Urisato’s experience in crafting gentleman's wear is reflected in this "three-dimensional" silhouette.

Furthermore, the fabric uses hollow fibers for the weft—the centers of the threads are hollow, making them lightweight and trapping air inside for better heat retention.

I also love that they are made from polyester material, which offers a great balance of durability, quick-drying properties, and wrinkle resistance, making them easy for everyday use.

167cm : Size 2

Since I’m not very tall, I’m particularly picky about the silhouette of my pants. This is because wearing wide pants can make me look even shorter.

These pants are just right for me. They work well with everything from fitted tops to relaxed ones, so I’m sure many people will love them.

So far, they might look like just another pair of nice, easy-to-wear pants, but TOZAOU doesn't stop there.

In fact, this is where it gets interesting for me.

The design around the waist is the most distinctive feature.

The "Doorman Pants," as the name suggests, were inspired by the handle of a detached door. This is the side design.

There is a hook at the waist for white gloves, like those worn by a doorman at an exclusive place like a high-end hotel or luxury brand store.

Additionally, there is a pin loop above the belt loop for the buckle pin. This prevents the belt from sliding around due to movement, keeping the buckle centered on your waist at all times (you don't see it from the outside once attached, so it's safe to wear when tucking in your shirt).

With two tucks at the waist and one dart on each side at the back, they look sharp despite their comfortable fit.

As for the two hooks at the waist, although few people likely use white gloves in daily life, please feel free to hang whatever you like—a scarf, bandana, keys, etc.

Incorporating small events of daily life into clothing.
Like a doorman who blends into the space without being flashy, yet stands there to protect it.

"Beautiful" doesn't just mean "beautiful."

It’s not about making beautiful things look even more beautiful, but about how to use beautiful things in everyday life. Is it easy to wear?

Based on the foundation of fine tailoring, it incorporates insights from daily life.

That very idea is TOZAOU’s unique form of expression, and that is what I believe is the charm of the brand.

155cm : Size 1

168cm : Size 3

Up until now, I’ve only stocked sizes 2 and 3, but I’ve added sizes 1 and 4 to the lineup this time to cater to ladies and those 175cm or taller.

Miura is 155cm and wears a size 1. I’m 167cm and wear a size 2. Nishiwaki is 168cm and wears a size 3.

If you are 160cm or shorter, go for size 1.

If you are between 160cm and 175cm and prefer a slimmer fit, choose size 2. If you prefer a slightly wider fit, size 3.

If you are 175cm or taller, size 4 is recommended.

I recommend pulling them up high on your waist and securing them well with a belt.

Finally, back to the TOZAOU concept I mentioned at the beginning.

Among the concepts is the phrase “Leaning on Memories.”

I feel that the very choice of the word "leaning" over a more standard expression like "remaining in memory" captures the essence of TOZAOU.

"Remaining in memory" implies that wearing the clothes or the events of that time will stay with you.

"Leaning on memories," on the other hand, is about the sense of comfort and reassurance you get from the garment itself.

TOZAOU clothing isn't flashy.

But it provides a comfort akin to leaning back into a warm memory, or the sense of relief you felt as a child holding a favorite stuffed animal.

It’s not just a consumable, but clothing that acts as a "thing" that stays with you for life, like a charm.

THIRD PLACE features brands from Japan, the US, and Europe, ranging from those using the finest luxury fabrics to those featured on runways.

From large-scale labels to smaller, independent ones.

I love them all.

Because there are things you can express because of your scale, and things you can only notice because you are still small.

I love TOZAOU’s ideas. They have taught me a new value in clothing.
