THIRD PLACE's Basic

Hello. This is NISHIWAKI from THIRD PLACE.
I've collected shirts from various places where I've met people: New York, Amsterdam, Oslo, Copenhagen, and Japan.
For the past few years, I'd drifted away from shirts, favoring sweatshirts and wool T-shirts. But with requests from customers and my own growing feeling that I should be wearing collared shirts more often, I've re-engaged with shirts this season and selected ones I want to wear now.
Looking at the shirts I've chosen, all but two have regular collars. I've always preferred regular collars for shirts, so my main preference hasn't changed.
What has changed since I turned 30 is that my options for "materials" and "colors" have expanded.
For example, I've become interested in items made from high-quality materials like silk, premium linen, and summer wool (in a good way). For colors, I'm wearing more white shirts, elegant beige, and sophisticated, mature pieces like the Another bespoke shirt I introduced previously.
When you look at the shirts displayed, it's interesting how each one is different depending on the brand and design: some are loose, some are slightly more fitted, some have large buttons, and some have small ones.
And even as I chose a variety of shirts, the common rules remained the same: they are all washable, can be worn freshly laundered, and are unisex. As I've written many times in my blog, the clothes I want to offer here prioritize being "everyday wear."

Today, among all the shirts, please allow me to introduce a shirt that I categorize as "basic."
There are several key keywords when talking about things I've liked, chosen, and my style over the years, and "basic" is one of them.
Basic items are highly versatile pieces that are not significantly influenced by trends and function as a foundation in anyone's wardrobe.
1. Not easily affected by trends
2. Simple design
3. Easy to mix and match
4. Stable colors
5. Highly versatile
A word that often feels similar is "classic," but I believe "basic" has a different meaning.
Basic: Role (fundamental clothing)
Classic: Track record (long-loved clothing)
And when it comes to shirts, "basic" means:
・Plain or subtle pattern (white, sax blue, stripes, etc.)
・Classic collar styles such as regular collars or button-downs
・Universal silhouette, from fitted to slightly relaxed
・A balance that works both as a standalone piece and as an inner layer
These are common terms, but the nuances vary depending on the person or shop, so I've re-examined my own thinking in my own words.
However, it's difficult for me to make new buying decisions within the "basic" category, because there are already several brands producing items that are considered classics.
Moreover, even if something is basic, if it's "truly ordinary," it won't resonate. I want something that's "ordinary but not ordinary," and at the same time, in the world of fashion, I believe it's also where "sense" and "mood" are tested.
Considering these points, this was the shirt I chose.

SUNFLOWER
NEW BASE SHIRT
Col WHITE / BLUE / DARK BLUE
Size S/M/L ¥35,000+tax
This is a regular collar shirt from the Danish brand "Sunflower" based in Copenhagen.
We've been introducing them since 25AW, so more and more people are getting to know them in our store, but Sunflower is a brand that resists fleeting trends and fast fashion, offering timeless wardrobe staples.
While they tend to have a "cool" image, I truly believe they excel at basic items, as the product name suggests.
When I saw the three blue-based striped shirts, I immediately thought, "This is it!" lol
I love checks and stripes, so the width of the stripe and the color scheme were exactly what I was looking for.
The 100% cotton fabric is a plus, as it can be worn all year round. It's a comfortable and easy-to-wear shirt. The collar width and front buttons are small, so there's no strong impression. The sizing is also good, with a moderately relaxed body width and a length that isn't too long, making it a good fit for Japanese body types.
It's easy to use both as a stand-alone piece and as an inner layer, making it a basic shirt that perfectly meets my criteria. Moreover, it's a shirt that isn't widely available in Japan yet, so the ability to wear something unique without seeing others in the same item was also a deciding factor.

155cm / Size S

168cm / Size M
PANTS: HERILL "Ripstop Work Pants"

168cm / Size M
DENIM : HERILL "Linen Denim 4PK"

167cm / Size S
DENIM: TOZAOU "Five Pocet Denim"

155cm / Size S
PANTS: refomed "WOOL SLEEK"
Women and slim men would likely fit size S, while someone with my build might wear size M for a relaxed fit, and those over 175cm would probably wear size L.
This shirt can be styled with denim or slacks, for both casual and dressy looks, so I highly recommend it as a first shirt from THIRD PLACE, especially for newcomers. For those who have already worn out their favorite shirts, it would also be a great repurchase.
I hope you'll enjoy comparing the various shirts, as I've chosen items with distinct characteristics, using the "basic" shirts introduced today as a central point, along with a vertical and horizontal axis of inspiration. And I hope everyone finds a great match.
Here, I'm continually updating the shirts collected at THIRD PLACE, so if you're curious about other items, be sure to check out the item descriptions for a preview!

Lastly, here's a style I'd like to try with this shirt.
I plan to layer it under this jacket, enjoying how the hem shows.
I've gathered shirts that you won't find anywhere else. Please come and choose one this weekend.
I'm looking forward to seeing you all starting tomorrow!
