THIRD PLACE episode #2
Hello, this is Yota.
Today I'd like to talk about the transition from "third place" to "THIRD PLACE."
The term "third place" and the direction were established in episode #1, but the next important thing was to show what "our third place is."
Here, "showing" means turning feelings and thoughts into a "visible form." This was my first experience of creating something from nothing.
I have worked with many professionals and have seen first-hand the difficulties of starting something from scratch, and the strong determination and responsibility of people who face themselves and create things, so I can't do this half-heartedly. I knew I didn't want to do it.
So I consulted with Matsumoto of WAB Design, who has been a friend of mine since the days of 1LDK and was one of the people who contributed to building the foundation of 1LDK. Although he is in the design industry, he is also well-versed in clothing and culture, and has a broad perspective because he works with people from various industries. I could relate to Matsumoto's sense and way of thinking, and above all, we had a trust in him, so we asked him to join the THIRD PLACE team.
"What is a third place?"
"What are we doing here?"
"What kind of place do we want it to be?"
I once again told the design team what I was thinking and feeling, and we spent several months discussing the matter in greater depth and detail, changing each perspective and angle one by one.

And so our "THIRD PLACE" was born.
As many of you may have noticed, there is something missing.
"Little Different / A little bit different, ordinary and special"
"Hidden / A hidden, secret, third place known only to those in the know"
"Unnormal / Normal but not normal"
I think these three main keywords clearly express our mindset and style. It's not flashy, but if you look closely you'll see its distinctive features.
And we have already explained what "THIRD PLACE" is on the ABOUT page , so please take a look, but we do not specify the meaning or position of "this place."
What we value at THIRD PLACE is the time you spend here, the people you meet, and the experiences you have.
This applies not only to customers, but to everyone, including the creators. I hope that we can all enjoy the time we spend creating together in this place.
